The book of eli isn't perfect with its choppy action sequences or pacing issues, but its a fun film nonetheless it's films like these that keep the post-apocalyptic genre alive and well 97 of 169 people found this review helpful. Eli is transformed into a kind of sainthood at the very end is eli's prayer, which to me is an archetypal example of how one can converse with god at times the movie lapses into excessive detail of dark scenarios, but so do some of the books of the bible.

The post-apocalypse film may be getting old after films like children of men, the road, i am legend, etc, but the book of eli manages to keep itself away from the cliché apocalypse film denzel portrays the title character of eli, a mysterious man who walks around around a destroyed world carrying a book he believes can save humanity. The book of eli falls prey to several of the problems that the road had, and while it wasn't as big a failure as that film, it's still a lot of apocalyptic wasteland to get through.
Washington and the hughes brothers do a good job of establishing this man and his world, and at first, the book of eli seems destined to be solemn. Although this new one has its comic-book qualities, good and bad, the hugheses have stanched the blood in “the book of eli,” making it easier to pay attention to what else is happening on screen they stage an early fight, for instance, entirely in silhouette, so that the arcs of spurting gore appear black, not red. The movie's subtext tackles religion: the bad guy wants to use the world's last remaining bible to control and dominate the weak and desperate, while the hero wants to deliver the book to a safe place.
The book of eli is basically a western done in the style of the road it contains the usual mix of desolate wastelands populated by mad max wannabes shot through high contrast filters, punctuated with occasional bursts of violence to keep the multiplex audiences in their seats in good time for the hughes brothers to deliver their aimless sermon about the meaning of the word of god.
Eli's not the only one who knows the power of the book in the heart of this parched land, a man named carnegie has built a fiefdom around a precious spring he's a petty despot with a legion of heavies and a yen for power.
This is very well-made movie nothing too slow or too fast, and no hint of sex, whatsoever i'm neither atheist or a christian there isn't a book of eli in bible (the bible contain history of the past, from beginning to end, to put it simply)just a title of movie, which just shows the chronicles of eli.
